The piloting skills you gain on the Rotor Rush simulator will be a great help to you when flying real life drones. Check out Jack’s experience in the video.

Sim Installation - Missing Files

MISSING MICROSOFT WINDOWS FILES

Automatic windows updates will usually keep your computer updated with the various Microsoft components needed to run you applications. However, it is possible that your computer is missing some components and here we identify the most common problems and show you where to download the fixes for them from the Microsoft site. (Note: make sure you only download these from the Microsoft site to ensure they are safe.)

MISSING MICROSOFT FILE: API-MS-WIN-CRT-RUNTIME-|1-1-0.DLL

This is due to a missing Microsoft Visual Studio redistribution component. Download and install the Visual C++ Redistributable:
www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=48145

MISSING MICROSOFT FILES: X3DAUDIO1_7.DLL OR XAPOFX1_5.DLL

This is due to a missing Microsoft directx component Download and install the Directx update:
www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

Sim Installation - Missing GlobalShaderCache-PCD3D_SM4.bin

If you see this message it will probably also mention COOKED content is not available (see image). This will be due to the graphics system in your PC not being able to support Microsoft DirectX 11 or greater which is needed to run the software.

Sim Controller - Not Detected

A recent Microsoft windows update changed the default driver allocated to some controllers (Taranis / Jumper etc) and stopped them working. To fix this you need to change the USB driver that windows has allocated to your controller.

There's a support document showing you how here: www.dronesimulation.co.uk/support/Taranis-USB-Driver-Selection.pdf

Sim Controller - Using Gamepads

The XBox controller for the PC and many other game pads will work with Rotor Rush. The differences to consider are as follows:

If you are using a gamepad as your controller we'd recommend trying adding some negative throttle expo so that your drone hovers around the center stick position.

Sim Minimum System Spec

The Rotor Rush drone simulation software uses the latest 3D engine technology and needs a reasonable spec PC to provide realistic visuals and a smooth flight experience. The minimum recommended spec is: Windows 10 OS, Intel i5 dual core CPU, NVidia 1050 graphics card (or equivalent supporting DirectX 11 or greater), 4GB RAM plus internet connection.

Rotor Rush is also available for MAC and requires a system with a reasonable 3D graphics capability such as the latest iMacs. Due to the range of systems and graphics capabilities we recommend downloading and installing the free trial to evaluate performance on your own MAC.
